(?i) and (?-i) in regex means

(?i) turns on case-insensitive mode, (?-i) turns it off.

For example:
For regex (?i)ed(?-i)a 
 - matches with the following words: eda, Eda, eDa, EDa
 - does not match with the following words: edA, EdA, eDA, EDA
